In a small room, 2000 years ago, late one Thursday evening, 13 men gathered to share supper together. The mood was sombre and strained. They met to celebrate the Passover festival but Jesus talked about betrayal and death. There was bread and wine on the table. They sat quietly and looked at Jesus.

“One of you will betray me”. They looked at each other, confused.

Someone brave asked hesitantly, “Will it be me?”

Conversation was guarded as they ate and drank the Passover meal of roast lamb, unleavened bread, bitter herbs and charosbeth. Jesus retold the story of the deliverance and exodus from Egypt.

“This is my body” he said passing the bread. “And this cup is my blood which is poured out for many” as he passed the wine.

Judas left early.

They sang a hymn together before Jesus led them out to pray on the hillside.

The next 24 hours would change their lives forever and they would never forget the significance of this last supper in the upper room.
